I’m not going to lie - cruise desserts were somewhat lacking. It wasn’t hard to pinpoint what they were missing though - moisture. That’s really what I think separates good baked goods from incredible baked goods. Obviously, we have to cut the cruise pastry chef some slack, he/she was making thousands of desserts every day so they cannot all very well be perfect! That being said, all of them had absolutely STUNNING presentations - they were almost to beautiful to eat {almost!} That’s what really inspired me about the desserts of the past week - presentation. I get so excited about eating what I bake that I often forget presentation. So here is to trying for some more stylized desserts! Here are a few of my favorite presentations from the cruise.
It has been an absolutely fabulous week sailing the Bahamas, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos! Here is a snapshot of the treats I ate along the way - stay tuned for a more comprehensive update after I settle back into the swing of things. Hope everyone had a fabulous week and holiday weekend! {Any wonderful Passover or Easter desserts?}
Sweet Sunday Mornings Sets Sail
I couldn’t be more excited to share that I am taking to the sea and headed on a cruise for a week! A few friends and I are going to the Caribbean and while I get some sun, I’m also oh so excited to seriously indulge in the sweets on the boat. I have every intention of eating soft serve ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner {with sprinkles} and I can really only imagine the other delectable desserts that will be on board! I can’t wait to share the treats I find but in the mean time, here are a few desserts currently inspiring me.
Fabulous frosting from According To Dina
Amazing chocolate eclairs from Free Recipes
Rainbow macarons from Emma Kisstina
Rainbow cake from Martha Stewart
Purple Ombre Sprinkles Cake from Raspberri Cupcakes
What is inspiring you this week?
P.S. I have a post set up for while I’m gone so make sure to check out what I baked this week!
